VIP, January 1997
Peter D'Antonio
H.E.A.R. is happy to honor our friend Peter D'Antonio as our first VIP
for 1997. Peter has specialized in a wide variety of scientific disciplines
including spectroscopy, electron diffraction, electron microscopy, software
development, and architectural acoustics. In 1974 Peter established the
current standard for modern recording studio design at Underground Sound
Recording Studio in Maryland. Peter pioneered the development of reflection
free-zone and the reflection-phase grating diffusor system. He is president
of RPG Diffusor Systems, Inc., an organization that conducts research
in room acoustics and the development of designs for architectural surfaces
to enhance acoustics and performing environments.
Peter D'Antonio has lectured extensively on architectural acoustics all
over the world and has published his research in numerous scientific and
technical journals. He currently serves as Chairman of the AES Working
Group for the Characterization of Acoustical Materials and is an adjunct
professor of acoustics at the Cleveland Institute of Music. His continuing
research and work in the field of acoustics and acoustical simulation
benefits science, education and the music industry. Peter's work has earned
him the respect and admiration of scientists and educators all over the
world and H.E.A.R. is please to salute him. Thanks for all the hard work,
Peter, and Happy New Year!
