H.E.A.R.honors Carson Daly
He's cool, down with the fans and can chat with gangsta rappers
and politicos with equal ease, all of which is why Carson
Daly has ventured out into his very own talk show, Last Call
with Carson Daly. But how did this California boy become the
ambassador of all things hip? Daly was born in Santa Monica,
California, with a strong Christian background, so strong
he even contemplated becoming a priest. When he was just six,
he lost his father to bladder cancer. His mother, Pattie Daly
Caruso, host of the Palm Springs talk show Valley Views, later
remarried Richard Caruso, a golf-shop owner. Caruso inspired
the young Daly to take up golf, which he contemplated pursuing
professionally. He was so determined to become the next Arnold
Palmer that he won a golf scholarship to Loyola Marymount
University, but he quit after a year to try his luck as a
golf pro. It was a chance internship at radio station KCMJ
that changed his career course. He was soon offered a job
at station KOME in the Bay Area before moving to L.A.'s KROQ.
MTV offered him a job as VJ in 1996, and the rest is TRL history.
H.E.A.R.is thrilled to honor Carson for his great talent
and generous compassion for appearing in H.E.A.R.'s new public
service announcment (PSA) with Missy Elliott shot during MTV
Spring Break. Click HEAR
