WHY THIS MATTERS: The
H.E.A.R. Benefit Concert is the first event from a new and
growing coalition of Bay Area artists who are banding together
to help piece back together the splintering local music scene.
The still fertile Bay Area arts community has been coming
apart at the seams due club and rehearsal space closings as
well as skyrocketing Bay Area living expenses. Rather than
move to LA or Portland, many of the Bay AreaÍs artists are
getting together to help one another.
BandSummit is the start
of one new collective of artists who will be pooling their
resources and talents to help promote original music in the
Bay Area. Other activities being planned by the organization
now include compilation CDs, benefit concerts, local and national
music distribution, website development and gig exchange programs.
