The Story : Letter from Ginger Coyote
After the death of my pal Nick Traina, I wanted to
put together a CD to help make changes and awareness
in the music Community. I had read an article about
Louis Posen at Hopeless Records and the new label he
was launching called Sub City Records. I contacted Louis
with my idea and we chose a non profit organization
H.E.A.R. Hearing Awareness and Education for Rockers
to receive the benefits of this CD. H.E.A.R. was formed
in San Francisco, California by Contractions bassist
Kathy Peck who suffered hearing loss while in her band.
H.E.A.R. provides hearing tests, support, education
along with distributing ear plugs at various concerts
throughout the country. I then began contacting different
bands to participate in the compilation CD. I wanted
to combine New School bands (Damnation Link 80,
The Bellrays, Jon Cougar Concentration Camp,
Scared Of Chaka, Other Star People) with
Old Schooi bands (The Avengers, The Lewd,
Toxic Reasons The Vktms, Contractions)
I also wanted to include bands from around the world
(Shonen Knife, Electric Summer, The Tedio Boys) to unite
musicians for this cause. Actor Peter Coyote was also
in support and donated a track. "Hey Nick You Did Okay"
by the White Trash Debutantes is dedicated to the memory
of the late Nick traina and includes back up vocals
from Jennfier Finch (L7, Other Star People),
Amy Carlson (Emmy nominated actress for "Another
World"), Xander Smith (Other Star People), Tequila Mockingbird
(Nina Hagen ) and Paige Darling (The Darlings)
this CD includes a lot of surprises and combines some
of the finest talent together talent together on one
CD.
